About Us

Junior Hampshire Hornets Wheelchair Basketball club was founded in March 2008 by two parents of disabled children, who were frustrated by the lack of sporting opportunities within Hampshire. Since inception the club membership has steadily grown, attracting children from across the region including, Portsmouth, Gosport, Ferndown, Bracknell, Southampton and Winchester.

The club provides sporting opportunities, networking and social opportunities for physically disabled children, with wheelchair basketball at the core of our activities.

The club now has over 20 dedicated sports wheelchairs, vital for safety when allowing disabled children to participate in recreational and competitive sport.

The club based in Eastleigh Hampshire at Crestwood Leisure Centre, Shakespeare Road, and provides excellent access and facilities for wheelchair basketball, enabling disabled children from Hampshire, Dorset, and Berkshire to access sport.

The club takes its responsibilities seriously and is a fully constituted club, run and guided by an active committee of volunteers. The committee's responsibilities include corporate governance, fund raising, marketing, and maintainance of the club finances.

We also maintain a Facebook page, where you can see more of what we do and the children can contribute – please register as a fan at Hampshire Hornets wheelchair basketball.

The sessions focus on having fun, whilst providing basketball skills and training – so come and give it a go, the first session is free.
